Buses in Yasugi

The Yellow Bus is Yasugi’s main local network. This guide also explains the reservation-only shared taxi to Kiyomizu-dera and an alternative bus-only journey from Yonago to Matsue for times when trains cannot be used, such as during a suspension of the JR San’in Main Line.

Yasugi Citywide Bus

Start here for Yasugi Station, the Adachi Museum of Art, Hirose, Hakuta, Arashima, Yonago and Chikuya. The network combines fixed routes with demand-responsive services.

安来市広域生活バス（イエローバス）

The current timetable is organised into 15 route groups. A regular ride costs ¥200 for adults, ¥100 for elementary-school children and is free for preschool children. A ¥500 day pass is sold on board and elsewhere; it is valid on all Yellow Bus routes and sections for the date shown, except the Matsue City section.

From Yasugi Station or Yonago Station, use the Hirose–Yonago route and get off at Saginoyu Onsen / Adachi Museum of Art. From Arashima Station, use the Hirose–Arashima route. At Yonago Station, Yellow Bus services for the museum leave from platform 6; check the Japanese destination before boarding.

The Hirose–Yonago route connects Yasugi Station with central Hirose. Some trips also serve Gassan-iriguchi for Gassan Toda Castle, so check the exact column in the timetable rather than assuming every bus stops there.

The shopping bus and city loop serve central Yasugi, while separate routes cover Arashima, Hakuta, Nishihida and other outlying areas. Some rural sections are demand-responsive, seasonal or do not run every day. Choose the route first, then check its operating symbols and reservation notice.

This tourist guide focuses on travel from Yasugi Station to Kiyomizu-dera. Boarding windows differ between Yasugi Station and the Ugashō area.

This guide covers the trip from Yasugi Station to Kiyomizu-dera. Yasugi Station is a designated stop in the central district; when booking, say that you want to travel from Yasugi Station to Kiyomizu-dera and confirm the exact pick-up and drop-off points. For the return trip, board in the Ugashō area. A reservation is required, so you cannot simply wait at the stop. Phone bookings are accepted only in Japanese. If needed, ask the Yasugi City Tourist Information Center inside Yasugi Station for help with the reservation.

WHEN TRAINS ARE UNAVAILABLE

Yonago to Matsue by bus only

If the JR San’in Main Line is suspended or trains cannot be used, two Yellow Bus services through Yasugi and Chikuya can be connected with the Matsue City Bus.

広瀬＝米子線 → 安来＝竹矢線 → 松江市営バス竹矢線

This is an alternative for times when trains cannot be used, such as during a suspension of the JR San’in Main Line. JR is normally much faster. Change at Yasugi Station, then at Chikuya. Buses may also be suspended in severe weather, connections are not guaranteed after a delay, and all Yellow Bus routes are suspended from 1 to 3 January. On the day of travel, recheck the operating status and timetable of all three services.
