Several ways to pay at compatible ticket machines
The exact methods depend on the machine and station.Buying a paper ticket with electronic money is not the same as touching an IC card to ride. Follow Ichibata Railway’s ticket and numbered-ticket procedure.

Boarding and leaving at unstaffed stations

Wait at the marked position
Check the direction and wait at the boarding position shown on the platform.

Board through the rear door
Use the rear door of the first car and take a numbered ticket.

Prepare the exact fare
Check the fare display. The fare box does not give change; a change machine is beside it.

Leave through the front door
Put the numbered ticket and fare into the fare box beside the driver. Show a ticket or pass if you already have one.
!At a staffed arrival station, hand the numbered ticket to staff and pay at the ticket gate.
